달고나 (Dalgona: Korean Sponge Candy)

Dalgona or Ppopgi is a Korean Sponge (otherwise known as Honeycomb Toffee or Sea Foam) Candy that you can make with simply sugar, baking pop and hotness. Exemplary Korean Street Food from the 60's and 70's. Press formed molds make it even a tomfoolery game!

Fixings

1 Tbsp sugar

1 squeeze baking pop

1 tsp vegetable oil

Gear/Tools

1 scoop or huge spoon

1 metal chopstick or a treats stick

1 little silicon spatula or spoon for scratching

1 level plate or smooth metal or stone surface

dalgona form or cutout molds (discretionary)

Guidelines

Coat a plate or a metal or stone surface with a touch of vegetable oil. Coat oil on a hotteok press or any artistic or metal plate/dish that you can use to press the liquefied sugar. Have these two things and a silicon spatula prepared close to your oven.

Add 1 Tbs sugar in a scoop or huge spoon.

Hold the scoop or spoon on top of the oven at medium-low hotness and liquefy sugar for around 3-4 min until it becomes fluid and is straightforward. Abstain from consuming by mixing continually with a chopstick while it melts and remove it from the hotness whenever it begins to smoke. Bring down the hotness if important.

Whenever it has transformed into sugar syrup, add a squeeze (or 3 plunges with the finish of the chopstick - see video) of sponsorship soft drink to syrup.

Promptly take the scoop off the hotness and blend soft drink in with the syrup.

Move the scoop once again back on top of the endlessly heat it up for pretty much 4-5 seconds, until the sugar blend begins to puff up. Try not to hold on until it puffs up completely, then you are probably going to consume it.

Move sugar+soda combination onto lubed plate or surface. Quickly press it down to make a slim circle like treats. Press for 3 seconds or so and afterward before it completely solidifies, press your form on the sweets - not so hard that the shape will be removed.

Allow it to cool and afterward you have a good time Korean Dalgona Sugar Sponge Candy!
